I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Holy WOW. I am going to warn you like NO ONE warned me.
I feel like the next time I read a Max Henry book (this was not my first so I feel like I should have known) I will do some weight lifting ahead of time. This is so heavy.
Devil on Your Back is a deep, thoughtful, and utterly moving story. Now, don’t get me wrong, many MC Romances are this way, but Max completely guts you. The writing was fantastic, well-planned, and had amazing character development.
I loved that most of this story was in Vince’s POV because I was able to crawl into his head and become one with the character. How many books allow that? Not many. My heart broke for him. I wanted to slap and/or shake him. But most of all I cheered for him as he endured much to achieve his persona growth.
And Sonya, my dear sweet Sonya. How many times do we women feel the way she feels? Even not having lost what she has lost, I completely understood and sympathized with her emotional struggle. What is my value/place/purpose? Don’t we ALL ask that???
Please, do yourself a favor and read this book. Heck, read ALL of her books! I know I plan to.
