I don’t even know where to begin… but before I do, I need to take a moment to say, if you are sticking to your favorite genres, I get it, I do, but what I found when I was tugged out of my self-induced box was eye-opening.
AVG is my first real encounter with Steampunk (I didn’t even know that was a term before this book) and WTF?? Where have I been?!
Ms. Radcliff has created an intricate, engaging, and exciting world that will utterly captivate you. I was a little, um, hesitant at first, but AVG doesn’t give you much time to back out, and HOLY HECK you do not want to! The development of the characters along with the plot is like nothing I have read before. I mean, yes, I read PNR so I’ve dealt with different worlds and people with different abilities, but this, THIS BOOK, is so original.
The characters are complex, but not to the point where you are scratching your head thinking “huh?” No, the development of AVG’s characters breathes real life into them, making them so freaking real to me as a reader that I completely connect with all of their emotions, my heart pounded with each fight and broke with each loss. It is not often that a non-romance book effects me so deeply, so to say I was surprised is an understatement.
Do’s and Don’ts of reading AVG
DO expect to be blown away
DO give yourself time to read, this is not a quick-reading, easy to follow fast-paced joyride
DON’T underestimate ANY of the characters
DON’T think you know what will happen
DO pay a-freaking-ttention I tend to try to scan, DO NOT DO THAT 😉
There is no romance in this installment, but if you look really hard and pay attention, you can see a breadcrumb here and there, so I am BEYOND excited to see where this adventure takes me.
I was given an ecopy by the author in exchange for an honest review.
