Oh Ms. Hollyfield, you have done it again!
Faking It is an amazing emotionally-charged story of two people who refuse to let anyone see who they really are. While full of the wit and humor we have come to expect from Hollyfield, this is not a funny book. No, it’s a beautiful story of of a woman who protects herself by showing the world what they want to see – if they don’t the real Lexi, they can’t hurt her. Lexi is a fantastic heroine, one I found a kinship with and rooted for from the get-go.
Hunter is quite the leading man; mysterious and sensual, demanding and multidimensional, and as an artist he’s good with his hands (insert winky face here). The inner turmoil/battle for him (wanting Lexi vs staying closed off) was difficult at times, but only because I could feel his fight, I sympathized with his pain.
I think the thing I love about this book is how Hollyfield dealt with the “insta-love” issue that plagues a lot of books. She faced it head on. BOTH characters were shocked by the strength of their attraction. BOTH characters struggled with accepting it internally. This made it so much easier to relate to! I remember that initial pull that needed no explanation. Granted, mine wasn’t on display for the world, so I didn’t have people judging how quickly I expressed my feelings. So for an author to own it so boldly, well, I was excited.
you should be excited too. And one-clicking. You should be one-clicking.
