Blog Tour w/Review: Soaked by Stacy Kestwick

Soaked BT Banner

Title: Soaked
Author: Stacy Kestwick
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Water’s Edge (Book 2)

Having hope was her weakness.
If Sadie Mullins hadn’t started to believe in love again, hadn’t let herself fall for him, she wouldn’t be feeling this way.
Wouldn’t have her heart breaking.
Wouldn’t regret meeting West Montgomery.
The cocky bastard should have left her alone, let her forget about him.
Let her move on with her life.
Of course, he didn’t.
That could have been the end of it.
Of course, it wasn’t.
Damn hope.

*This is Book 2 in the Water’s Edge Series and is a continuation of Sadie and West’s story that began in Wet. This is not a standalone.*

Finally! We get the rest of the story!

I have been waiting for the conclusion to West and Sadie’s story, and it was definitely worth it. The ups and downs, the re-connection, the HOLY-HELL-THAT-DID-NOT-JUST-HAPPEN, the steam-factor…WHOA. I’m going to keep this short and sweet because I want you to experience the book. And, I know sometimes we check reviews for the second book to make sure we want to dive into the series at all, and I don’t want to spoil anything.

We really get a better picture of West in this installment. In Wet, I’m going to admit, I kind of thought he was a prick. Okay, that’s not wholly accurate, I thought he had some prick-like behavior. In Soaked I understood him better. Honestly, West is one of the most true to life male book heroes I have ever read. His thought process and actions could be any dude I know. Now if only they could all look like him…. hhhmmmmmmmmmm

Aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnd, I’m back. Sorry.

Sadie has one heck of ride in Soaked. She really grows into herself, finds her own strength and it’s really cool to “watch.”

There were some scenes I had a hard time getting into. But I really think that was just my personality clashing with what was going on and not the writing. Even in those scenes up could think to myself, “Why am I not having a reaction to this? The writing is good; descriptive, emotional, definitely not boring. But in sitting here just, meh.”

Overall, I really enjoyed the book, I loved West, I felt like Sadie could be one of my homegirls, and the story was fab.

The bartender was my new best friend. I frowned. Well, after Rue. And Theo. My third best-est friend. Because she kept pouring me these great margaritas.

I normally hated margaritas.

But Alison? My third best-est friend? She made some damn good ones. And there were so many flavors! Lime was okay. Mango was better. Watermelon wasn’t that great, but I drank it anyway because I didn’t want to hurt its feelings. I was almost finished with blood orange and it might have been my favorite, but I still had two flavors to go, so who knew?

The only thing I needed to decide on was whether pink lemonade or pineapple was next.

Wasn’t pineapple supposed to make cum taste sweeter?

Wait — that only worked if the guy drank it. Right?

I couldn’t remember now.

And it was fucking glorious.

Alison was my new third best-est friend and blood orange margaritas were the shit.

Best. Night. Ever.

I swung my head around when I heard the stool next to me being slid across the terracotta-tiled floor and almost lost my balance.

But Nick caught me.

Niiiiiiick. He looked nice tonight. Tight, dark shirt. Fitted khakis. I could kind of see the outline of his bulge against the fabric.

It wasn’t bad.

West had a nice bulge too.

I wrinkled my forehead. No. I shook my head. No.

Not thinking about him tonight.

Hey! Nick was here. Maybe he could drink the pineapple margarita and help me remember. I could get the pink lemonade one then.

I grinned up at him, and poked him in the chest with my finger.

“Alison!” I yelled. “This guy—” poke “—needs a pineapple margarita. And I’ll take the lemonade one next.”

She raised an eyebrow and looked at Nick for confirmation.

Nick with the bulge.

He leaned closer to me. “Why pineapple?”

I rolled my eyes. “Because I can’t remember. And this will solve the problem!”

“Can’t remember what?”

“If it’ll make you taste sweeter.”

He stared at me, then coughed. “Do you mean—”

I leaned over and patted his lap. “Down here.”

I’m a Southern girl who firmly believes mornings should be outlawed. My perfect day would include lounging on a hammock with a good book, carbohydrates, and the people around me randomly breaking into choreographed song and dance routines. It would not include bacon, cleaning, or anything requiring patience.

ICYMI – I Loved Sarah J. Pepper’s Soulless

Title: Soulless (Once Wicked #1)
Author: Sarah J. Pepper
Release Date: Feb 23, 2016
Find on Goodreads
Our love is imperfect in the most perfect way. It is love done our way. Raw. Unconventional. Sexy as hell. Most importantly, it is honest to the core, or so I think. One little, white lie shouldn’t do so much damage. Yet, it changes me forever.
The worst part is that Declan whispered that sweet nothing out of protection. My safety is on the forefront of his mind, especially since there are others who’d hurt me simply to get at him. I never think that he would be the one to cut me so deeply. And it all starts with that first prick—the night he saved my life.

Ok, so let’s start of with how I felt after the prologue. My kindle note was “Oh, shit.” As in, “Whoa, what’s going to happen, I’m not putting this thing down until I know.” I was not disappointed.

We pick up where the novella stopped, Piper is on the verge of death and Declan stops it from happening … for a price. Now, not like you’re thinking, he loves this girl. I mean luuurves this chick.

“Piper was mine. all mine. No one could take her away from me. No one.”

The relationship between Declan and Piper is something spectacular to behold. They truly, wholly, and unconditionally love each other. And yet… Well, nothing is perfect. Hold on, that’s not true. Ms. Pepper’s story is perfect. I felt EVERYTHING. I related to both characters and sympathized with them on EVERY LEVEL. No, I’ve never killed, but I was RIGHT THERE with them. I was RIGHT THERE while Declan and Piper were separated and thoughts were forming based on not knowing what was going on.

“I already knew that he would hide many things for me, but he would never withhold his feelings for me.”

“You are fucking imperfect in the most imperfect way, Piper.”

Another thing that you get in this story is a plethora of characters that ALL MEAN SOMETHING to the story. and every character has depth, they aren’t simply window dressing.

It’s not often you are sucked into a story so completely, but there really is no way around it with Soulless. I loved these characters as if I were them. The merging of Ms. Pepper’s originality and stories that we have grown up with hit me hard. I loved this book. I LOVED the ending. You must read it. Must.

Sarah J. Pepper specializes in dark, paranormal romance – think “happy ever after” but with a twisted, dark chocolate center. Real-life romance isn’t only filled with hugs, kisses, bunnies, and rainbows. True-love can be more thoroughly described in times of darkness and tribulation. It’s in those harsh moments where you see what a person is truly capable of – both the good and bad. Sometimes prince-charming isn’t always on time, and the glass slipper is a little snug. However, it doesn’t mean Charming is not Mr. Right, and who says every shoe is the perfect fit? Get a glimpse inside her head at

Paul James loved Clara Bateman.
Hating her would have been easier.
She was the past, and he was hell-bent on keeping her there.
Or so he thought…
You’re my father.
I don’t know much about you. I know your name is Paul James, you’re a thrill seeker, and once upon a time you did stunts and people called you ‘Epic.’
I’ve been told you don’t know about me. That it’s complicated.
But for me it’s simple.
Here’s the thing: I’m twelve years old…and I’m dying.
And as much as this could crush my mother, I have to meet you before I go.
In time, I’m sure she’ll understand. She’s still in love with you.
So, Epic, if you read this, please come back. You don’t have to be my dad. You don’t even have to tell me you love me or you’re sorry. Just come see me.
Patiently waiting, but running out of time,
B N Toler lives in Virginia. When she’s not reading and writing, she’s thinking about reading and writing. Before she became a self-proclaimed writer, she worked as a real estate agent and as an orthodontic technician. **She will notice your teeth before your eyes or hair or anything.**
She enjoys shopping (way too much) and is on a first name basis with several employees at the local Target in her town.
She loves music,(bluegrass, country, 80’s, actually she loves most music ~her favorite song is American Pie by Don McLean and she worships anything that is Elvis and Johnny Cash and Eric Church) dancing, (even though she sucks at it)reading, writing, eating (too much) sleeping late, (which she rarely gets to do) and laughing. If you can make her laugh, she will love you forever.
